Dual Sport Touring Etiquette The future of our sport depends largely on our own actions and how we are perceived by the non-riding community with whom we share our roads, trails, campgrounds, and forests. At Enduro Adventures we feel that it is our responsibility to represent all rider and especially dual sport and offroad riders in a positive manner. With this in mind we will operate under a few simple rules: Share the trails. Many of the areas we ride are forest roads and trails that are also used by hikers, hunters, horses, and mountain bikers. We always yield to others, especially horses, as they have a mind of their own and often spook at the sight of us. The best reaction to an encounter is to shut the bike off, give horse riders a chance to calm their mounts, and allow them to dictate how to proceed. Obey the laws. Make sure your equipment meets all requirements for use on public roads and national forests. Respect property – Public and Private. Sometimes in the course of a ride we will find that trails close for one reason or another, some trails offer us only seasonal usage. By respecting such closures we assure that we are welcome back the next time. Leave no trace. By staying on marked trails and off of those trails that tend to get muddy and rutted when wet, we help to assure that we all have good trails to ride when the conditions are right. When trails are too wet to use, we have many good routes utilizing forest road and hard packed terrain. Additionally, we always pack out at least what we packed in, leaving the trails and roadsides clean. Remember this is not a race. Sometimes in the excitement of the moment, we forget that our adventures are not races, and have the tendency to push a little hard at times. Remember there are others using the trails who don’t want us barreling down on them in a blind curve. Enduro Speed is a good rule of thumb, smooth and in control. |
